Space is the testing ground for many of the technologies we take for granted today (think: solar panels). Organizations like NASA maintain a tradition of reusability and repurposing, making a conscious effort to refurbish and reuse their rockets to explore new horizons. “If it ain't broke, don’t fix it.”
The adoption of “second life” design principles is a growing consideration in the world of package design. Tried and true manufacturing methods, where products were once built to last, have been traded for fast function. Now, single-use materials are used to make a single-use box that ultimately goes in the single-use trash can. This second exploration is an attempt to undo this wasteful lifecycle and create an object worth coveting.
