Sophia Li & Mark Rumizen Talk SAF
One question that continually comes to the forefront when climate change is discussed is: Do we need to stop flying? The quick and short answer is no. Flying is an essential part of our lives and for that reason, it’s not going anywhere, so we need to focus on sustainable alternatives for flying, such as SAF.
Sustainable aviation fuel, also known as SAF, is a jet fuel alternative that has the potential to significantly lower the aviation industry’s emissions—a step that is much needed since the industry accounts for roughly 2% of global GHG emissions.
To help answer some of the questions you may have about this innovative fuel, we invited award-winning climate journalist, climate advocate and UN Human Rights Champion Sophia Li to sit down with Mark Rumizen, the Director of Regulatory and Quality in Aviation here at AIR COMPANY. The two discuss everything from who should be responsible for paying for sustainable aviation fuel to how we’ll reach industry-wide adoption and why you, as a consumer, should care.
